About Shane

I am a Queer Nurodivergent dramatherapist and theatre-maker working across clinical practice and creative performance. My work is shaped by a long-standing engagement with theatre, story, and embodied practice, and by a commitment to care, reflection, and ethical relationships.

My creative practice is rooted in psychophysical theatre, devised performance, and storytelling traditions, drawing on folklore, myth, and practices of wonder. I work with drag as a site of transformation, play, and meaning-making, and make and perform work under the name Shane Gabriel. These artistic practices inform my clinical work through a shared attention to embodiment, imagination, and lived experience.

Across both clinical and creative contexts, I am interested in ritual as a way of marking change, holding transition, and making meaning. Alongside my clinical work, I am developing practice in artist wellbeing, supporting artists and creative practitioners through reflective and embodied approaches. This work is emerging and continues to grow through collaboration, learning, and practice.

I am a HCPC registered Dramatherapist and hold an MA in Dramatherapy from the University of Derby. My clinical work is informed by ongoing professional development, supervision, and a commitment to ethical and reflective practice.
